VETERANS' DAY events:
Coronado & Estacado Middle Schools will host their annual Veteran's Day Assembly to honor local veterans on November 11 at 9:30 AM in the Coronado Middle School gym. All area veterans are encouraged to attend.

The event will take place on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 6PM in the Plainview High school Cafeteria. You are welcome to bring your immediate family. PHS Student Council will be passing out "TRICK or TREAT" candy in the high school foyer on Monday, October 31, begining at 6:00 PM. Children in the community are encouraged to come by for a treat.
The October meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on October 27 at 6:00 PM. It was previously scheduled for October 20.

The Plainview High School Student Council will host a 5K RUN on Oct. 29. Cost is $25, $15 for students, and $10 for the Fun Run. Plainview DECA is sponsoring a contest for the most creative bear in any of the following categories. Any students or student organizations who would like to may be a sponsor and “Build a Bear”. You may enter your Bear from any of the following categories.
To participate, go on-line to http://www.buildabear.com/shopping/ and build a bear. Bears need to be turned in by February 1 for Judging by students. Prizes include a Chili’s Gift Card, 1 Free Red/Blue overalls from Spike’s Shop, 1 Free T-shirt from Spike’s Shop. All Bears will be donated to Children’s Hospitals, Fire and Police Department to help others.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER Applications may be picked up at the Administration Office, 912 Portland, from September 5 - November 9 for the first semester and January 5 - March 22 for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. Testing Date is set for Wed., Sept. 28 from 2:00 -3:00 p.m. Training dates are October 5, November 9, February 1, and March 22. Training will be from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
The Plainview High School Choral Department, under the leadership of Dr. Debra Flournoy-Buford and Mrs. Sally Bass, will present a patriotic program entitled “My America” on Monday, Oct. 17 in the PHS auditorium.
Eighteen Plainview High School students participated in the All-Region Choir competition held at Lubbock-Cooper High School on October 8.
PHS Spanish teacher Francisco Morales was presented with the Texas Tech University Grandparent of the Year award during the nationally broadcasted Texas Tech –Kansas game at AT&T Jones Stadium on Sept. 29.
Plainview High School senior Jonathan Soder has been named a Commended Student in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
