School Health Services

"The health, well being, and safety of our school children is our top priority."

Plainview I.S.D. School Nurses play a crucial role in students' health care needs.

As part of a health care team, school nurses often take the lead in prevention, early detection and correction of health problems.  School nurses monitor required immunizations and mandated health screenings. They maintain communication with parents as needed. Each school nurse is also an educator, encouraging students to live a healthy lifestyle.

Physical Activity Policies

Physical activity policies for elementary and secondary students may be accessed through policy online:  EHAC(LEGAL) , FFA (LEGAL), and FFA (LOCAL). (link to policy online)

School districts must annually assess the physical fitness of students enrolled in grades 3–12 and provide to TEA a summary of the physical fitness assessment results, aggregated by grade level and any other appropriate category identified by the commissioner of education. The summary results will not contain the names of individual students or teachers.

A  parent may request in writing their child’s physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year.

Vending Machines

Plainview ISD has adopted and enforces policies to ensure that the district and campuses comply with agency vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines.

Use of Tobacco Products

The district also has adopted and enforces policies and procedures that prescribe penalties for the use of tobacco related products by students and others on school campuses or at school sponsored or school related activities.
