Required Immunizations 
The Plainview Independent School District encourages you to have your child immunized prior to enrolling in school. Each campus must receive verification that your child has received the necessary immunization in order for him/her to attend school. Immunizations are the law! (Information from the Student handbook on required immunizations)

Immunization Information - Texas Department of Health Services website has information on the following:
  • List of immunizations required for admissions to public schools (English and Spanish)
  • List of recommended immunizations or vaccines for public school students
  • Information relating to procedures for claiming an exemption from the immunization requirements
  • New School Immunization requirements Effective August 1, 2009 (see News Release)

Students entering 7th Grade:
     IMMUNIZATION REMINDER
- All students who are in the 6th grade  are required by Texas law to have additional immunizations prior to enrolling in the 7th grade. Students will not be allowed to enroll at Coronado unless they have received the required shots. Parents should provide the school nurse with an updated shot record. Immunizations will NOT be offered at 7th grade registration. Contact nurse Lupe Hinojosa at Ash (296-4130) if you have questions.  (view list of required immunizations for 7th grade)

FITNESSGRAM is the Physical Fitness Assessment required for all students in grades 3-12 beginning this school year. Parents can request their child's physical fitness assessment results at the end of the school year by sending a written request to the school's physical education teacher. Further information on the Fitnessgram is available in the Letter to Parents - ENGLISH     SPANISH

Vending Machines - Plainview ISD has adopted and enforces policies to ensure that district and campuses comply with agency vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines.
Tobacco - The district has also adopted and enforces policies and procedures that prescribe penalties for the use of tobacco products by students and others on school campuses or at school sponsored or school related activities.
Notice on Anabolic SteroidsAnabolic steroids are for medical use only.  State law prohibits possessing, dispensing, delivering, or administering an anabolic steroid in any manner not allowed by state law.  State law provides that body building, muscle enhancement, or the increase of muscle bulk or strength through the use of an anabolic steroid or human growth hormone by a person who is in good health is not a valid medical purpose.  Only a medical doctor may prescribe an anabolic steroid or human growth hormone for a person.  A violation of state law concerning anabolic steroids or human growth hormones is a criminal offense punishable by confinement in jail or imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
